Mine is that if you have not passed this exam in three attempts, you must do some type of formal remediation program. Can't pass on the fourth attempt? You should consider yourself done. My two cents. Oct 4, I believed that after the 4th times then the person should either have to remediate with an accredited Nursing Review Program before being allow to take it for the 5th and final times.
I believed 5 times should be the maximum. Somebody earlier has mentioned that you can only take it so many times in a year therefore somebody whose passed on the 8th or 10th times has been going at it for atleast years?
I do believe and know first hand some people are just not good test takers. However, when you get to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th times and still have trouble passing then maybe you are not thinking the way the board of nursing wants you to think. The NCLEX is a test of safety, all they want to see is that you are a competent nurse who will choose to act in a way that is safe for the patient. Of course I'm speaking from my experience and I have passed the first time around but I know plenty of people who pass the second or third time and go on to be excellent nurses.
One of the premier teaching hospital near my area have a required question on the job application that asked "Did you pass the NCLEX the first time around? Yes or No". One of my friend tried to applied there and she didn't pass the first time and the automated message said she's not qualified for the position. However, there are plenty of hospitals whose does not care if it takes you a few times to pass the exam.
None of us here are paying for the repeat test takers test. So they should take as many times as they desire. This doesn't really impact us. So of what importance is this thread if not for some people to humiliate others. I have not written the nclex talk about failing rather what am saying is that there is no need for this thread. It would have been good if someone who has failed the nclex multiple times posted this thread may be seeking for advice rather than someone who already passed the nclex.
It doesn't make any sense! Says you. I see threads here all the time that make me wonder what the point of posting them was. Doesn't make me the arbiter of what should or should not be discussed though, does it?
Your not seeing the value in a discussion means that perhaps you should abstain from the discussion. Those who find entertainment, education, perhaps mere curiosity piqued, let them discuss away.
Message boards are just that, people talking. Maybe you can picture this thread as a conversation in a cocktail party. You stand by the circle, listen for a minute or two, decide the topic is not an interest, and wander away.
Maybe that would be your best move? Or, reconsider and join in. All in all, the guidelines can be wildly different from state to state.
