Should i lower my sportster
You can always jack up the bike, loosen triple clamps, slide tubes up 2 inches, then retorque the triple clamps. That will work, and just cost a little time. Ideal situation would be for the frame to be parallel with the ground assuming you park that scooter on a level piece of ground.
If you don't want the S front end you could probably sell it and put the length forks with damper you want on for little or no money, maybe pocket some coin. I will look at my parts and see, I think I have some dampers for a low model. If I find them I will measure them and let you know. Then look on Ronnie's to verify. And if you are concerned about sliding the tubes up in the triples don't be. The inside parts work the same. I have close to 30k on my current daily set up like that, no problemo.

It is shorter in stance from the MoCo.
For instance my daily started out as a low. Designated L, an 06 model. I changed the internals of the front, added longer tubes and put Road King air shocks on the back. Any suggestions?? I did it on my 05 wide glide. I did not lower the suspension but I shaved 4 inches of foam out of my seat all the way down to the hard seat pan and inserted a gel pad and recovered it with the existing seat cover.
I now have 17, miles on that seat with no comfort issues. I sell Harley's at a dealership in Marysville, WA and have been riding for years. Reducing the seat height and narrowing the seat spread is a really cheap and easy way to lower your bike without compromising the suspension! Good Luck!!! You will definitely spend a lot of money to have the current bike lowered so it's probably best to get one that's factory lowered.
Aug 04, Buy a new L instead? But there are a few things that my hubby brought it up recently. My husband thinks that it may be better off for us to buy new L.
What does anybody think about that? Jul 31, It can be done! I know for a fact that a sportster can be lowered for your height.
I have a friend that is 4'9" and her bike has been lowered and she rides just fine. I'm 5'2" and my hubby even designed a new way to lower my Roadking Classic with leather bags to fit me. As long as you can reach the ground and are able to back the bike up you can ride it.

But some geometry change may be positive and other not. I added 2" at the shock and -1" at the front. This was OK. Only the wide bar made my bike nervous Stay far away from those things. Look around. I picked up a set of Pregressive Works much better. See how you like it though. I ended up stopping after the new shocks as I liked how the bike handled.
